The LAS infrastructure is suitable for essential seed analyses—such as purity and germination tests, moisture content determination, seed classification verification, and assessments of mechanical damage, infestation, and bulk density—as well as other analyses.
Additionally, the facility possesses the infrastructure required for vigor testing and for research related to seed conservation (under natural conditions and controlled light, temperature, and relative humidity), seed processing, the application of products (chemical, biological, or otherwise) to seeds, and seed production in greenhouses and/or the field.
Beyond student research, priority is also given to research partnerships with private companies and public institutions, as well as professional courses and training aimed at technical updating and education regarding seed quality assessment.
